By Thomas Ratsim

The Right Reverend Thomas Laiser, Bishop of the Diocese, hitherto known as Diocese in Arusha Region revealed this on February 28 this year   \at a special Sunday Service to launch a new name of the diocese and raising funds for development of the diocese which was presided by former Prime Minister, Edward Lowassa and MP for Monduli.

Narrating the achievements and future plans of the diocese, Bishop Laiser  mentioned that the major landmarks of  the diocese  are the Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre, Piece House Secondary School, Arusha Corridor Springs Hotel, ten Secondary Schools and two designated District  Hospitals at Selian and Orkesumet.

He said members of the congregations are now building  houses of worship, buying vehicles for pastors and motorcycles for the evangelists.

The  diocese has already  acquired 700-acre  land  in Monduli for the purpose of establishing a  new University College.

Commenting on changing  the  name from Diocese in Arusha Region to North Central Diocese (NCD),  the Bishop said that was culminated by recent  administrative changes of splitting Arusha Region in order to form the Manyara Region.

The Bishop said  due to the changes the diocese has also amended the constitution. During the service  led by Emeritus Bishop Sendoro of ELCT Eastern and Coastal Diocese,  Bishop Laiser dedicated the constitution.
